Nab Wood

You remembered the visit to Nab Wood on Sunday –
Father Kieran coming to bless the graves.
You’d gone with Annie, in bitter November winds,
but couldn’t find the place.
‘I should have looked it up before,’ you said.
‘Got the tin out of the bureau and written down the numbers.’
And here, on this small slip of paper,
I see you have done just that.
O’Brien sisters at S40
Dad behind crem, grey headstone
Great Grandad Thompson with
Dennis, Leo and Eileen in S4
Grandad in Y100
And John Edward in 362
They are scattered, your little family,
but gathered, held safe now, in sloping, handwritten lines.
